Call for Applications
This summer school is organized by the Institute of Geography Education and the Department of German Language and Literature II in cooperation with Ilia University in Tbilisi (Georgia). It imparts knowledge about global and local sustainability problems as well as innovative teaching methods and media to promote education for sustainable development. An international network for future cooperation will be established, and through exchange and practical experience, students will be better prepared to integrate sustainability issues into their teaching practice. Seminars, workshops, excursions and cultural programs are offered.
Contents
- Problems and solutions: Providing in-depth knowledge of the most pressing problems of unsustainable developments in Germany and Georgia. Participants develop solutions and evaluate possible courses of action in the education sector.
- Reflection on teaching projects: Analysis of German and Georgian approaches to education for sustainable development (ESD). Students reflect on differences and develop ideas for their lessons.
- Linguistic and content-related learning: promoting language and specialist skills for communicating complex sustainability topics.
- Innovative media and OER: Introduction to the use of digital, freely accessible teaching materials to strengthen ESD in university teaching. Students learn how to use OER to develop teaching materials and discuss their potential for a broader establishment of ESD
Application information
- Location: Tbilisi (Georgia)
- Date: 21.-29.9.25
- Costs: Scholarships will be awarded for German participants. They do not have to pay for flights, accommodation, welcome and closing dinners and the academic program. A personal contribution of 50 euros will be charged for the social program.
- Who can apply: Bachelor's and Master's students and doctoral candidates in the subjects of Geography and/or German Studies at the UoC and at Ilia University in Tbilisi
